About
Babs grew up in Baltimore on a steady stream of John Waters and Jane Austen. Interested in how symbols on paper can so magically communicate ideas, she pursued a degree in Graphic Design at Drexel University, making Philadelphia her home.
After graduating from Drexel, she has experimented in environmental, apparel, packaging, magazine, and book design, landing at Merkle, Inc., a database marketing agency headquartered in Columbia, MD, (now part of Dentsu Aegis Nework, a global media group). She gained expertise and awards in direct response marketing with experience in direct mail, email, display, and social media marketing along with landing page and website design. Interested in how they all play together within a customer journey lead her to pursue a Masters in User Experience and Interaction Design, igniting a desire to solve more complex and nuanced problems.
While pursuing her Masters, she worked on a multidisciplinary design team developing a product to improve hand-washing rates with Jefferson Hospital’s Digital Innovation team.
With experience gained in the Virtual Reality 101 elective at Jefferson, she presented “Storytelling in Virtual Reality,” with PANMA at the Wharton School, her first public speaking engagement. This speaking engagement lead to involvement in Jefferson University’s augmented and virtual reality initiatives, starting with the first Jefferson University XR PhillyTech Week event in April 2018.
She is currently working as a Senior Digital Art Director at Merkle, Inc., and is interested in new opportunities within the health and government sectors.
